2016: Will construction costs continue to rise?

  • A combination of China’s faltering economy and a glut of some key materials inputs have led to a drop in materials costs, which will continue into 2016, as the world economy continues to sputter
  • Labor costs are rising, as construction companies fight for a limited supply of skilled laborers, counteracting the drop in materials costs labor costs will continue to rise in 2016, taking total construction costs with them, leading to increased demand for low-cost southern and western markets
