Nurses know best

December 9, 2015 Laura McDaniel

When Susan Silverman was tapped to help co-author a chapter within Nurses as Leaders in Healthcare Design, she was more than happy to contribute her thoughts on the topic. After all, not only does Susan currently work as a Senior Vice President in Project and Development Services at JLL, but she used to work as an administrator and nurse at several hospitals prior to her stint within the corporate world – giving her a unique and invaluable perspective into the world of healthcare design.

The book, which Herman Miller, Nemschoff and the Nursing Institute for Healthcare Design (NIHD) collaborated together on, is dedicated to helping leaders tap into one of the most underutilized resources in the planning and design of clinical environments: nurses – just like Susan. Intended for practitioners, as well as architects, designers and other leaders in healthcare, the book is an indispensable resource for shaping the design of human-centered healing spaces.
