Creating a first-of-its-kind experience for the Atlanta Braves and their fans

Faced with an expiring lease and unable to negotiate a suitable extension, the Atlanta Braves engaged JLL to fulfill their vision of a new, 41,000-seat world-class ballpark surrounded by 1 million square feet of a true, “Live, Work, Play” village. Acutely aware of the impending deadline, the JLL team immediately identified 82 acres of undeveloped land in the heart of the Braves’ fan base and anonymously negotiated its purchase at below market value. With an aggressive 28-month timeline, JLL helped the Braves initially define the optimal project goal, and then managed the design and construction of a first-of-its-kind development – the SunTrust Park & The Battery of Atlanta, which features residential and retail space as well as offices, a hotel and concert venue. The JLL team is close to completing the assignment and the new ballpark and village are on schedule to open for the 2017 baseball season.
