Reinventing a key retail asset

August 28, 2018 Sanjana Saluja

The owners of Bunbury City Plaza wished to transform the 50-year-old shopping centre into an enhanced retail destination to revive the central business district of Bunbury and improve sales.

We were appointed to replace the Woolworths anchor supermarket with a larger store, upgrade the existing shops, and provide additional parking, landscaping and other aesthetic improvements. The project was delivered with minimum disruption to business.

After the 18 month redevelopment was completed, and just six months after the centre was re-opened, retail performance had doubled and property revenues have more than doubled, and the shopping centre is now fully leased with a mix of established and new high-quality operators. The Woolworths store is now one of the best performing supermarkets for the group in Western Australia.
